Firefighter in pearls! Nation Life journal stars heroine in uniform

A firefighter is just not Nation Life’s typical ‘woman in pearls’ frontispiece.

However the 125-year-old journal on sale now has strayed from its traditional excessive society debutantes to current Natalie Turner, 30, beaming on the steps of a Kent fireplace engine in her uniform.

Initially from Oxfordshire, Miss Turner works for Kent Hearth And Rescue Service and relies at Royal Tunbridge Wells Hearth Station.

Editor Mark Hedges stated it wished to ‘rejoice the variety of roles undertaken by ladies’.

He stated: ‘All through the celebrations of Nation Life’s one hundred and twenty fifth anniversary this yr, we’re delighted to rejoice the variety of roles undertaken by ladies.

‘In 1897, there have been no ladies firefighters and we’re fortunate to have them now.’

Miss Turner is the daughter of Howard Lee Turner and Samantha Bond.
